“New Year, new hope.”
These are words we often hear from Filipinos at the start of the year.
Aside from this, many also eagerly anticipate their New Year’s resolutions, changes and plans for the new year.
Meriam Baldo, a resident, expressed, “So far, 2024 was meaningful for me because there were ups and downs, especially in finances, social, and emotional aspects. Everything was there, and it’s something you need to learn from in life.”
Betty Bayo, also a resident, stated, “It wasn’t as good as the past years, but you can feel the effects of COVID and struggles in business. Still, I’m thankful because we’re still here.”
Despite the challenges they faced in the past year, as 2025 begins, their wish is to overcome any trials and difficulties this new year may bring.
“What I can’t forget about 2024 were the impulsive decisions with big consequences. I hope those mistakes won’t happen again this year,” Baldo added.
Aside from these, their hopes for the year include…
“Actually, I don’t have any resolutions for myself. But I hope everyone will be disciplined because it can make a difference. Discipline is key,” said Shaira Graheda, a resident.
“I hope our city can recover, especially with the traffic. The traffic is really bad,” Betty Bayo said.
Whatever wishes individuals may have for themselves, whether for their communities, education, health, the environment, or politics, may unity and respect prevail in 2025.
