A motorcycle rider landed in the hospital after crashing his vehicle while attempting to flee from authorities along a road in Pangasinan.
The man, who was not wearing a helmet, accelerated when officers signaled him to stop for inspection.
Witnesses said the rider tried to avoid the checkpoint but lost control of his motorcycle and skidded along the pavement.
A responding officer said that the rider “could’ve avoided the accident if he simply stopped when he was asked to.”
The man sustained injuries and was brought to a nearby hospital.
Police said he may still face charges for traffic violations once he recovers.
Authorities reminded motorists to follow safety protocols and to wear helmets at all times to avoid serious injuries.
