A motorcycle rider died while being treated at a hospital after he smashed into an Elf truck Wednesday afternoon along the National Highway in Barangay Rizal, Santa, Ilocos Sur.

The victim was identified as Arnel Canula Palula, 20, from Colliong, Barangay Nangobonan, San Juan, Abra.

The driver of the elf truck —Roger Tabuga Briones, 56, is from Barangay Tamurong, Caoayan, Ilocos Sur.

Santa police said, the Elf truck was heading towards the North of the highway and was about to turn left West direction with signal lights on but the motorcycle driven by Palula appeared and hit the passenger side of the truck.

The motorcycle, according to the police, was at high speed.

As a result of the impact, Palula was thrown to the ground and was rushed by the responding police to the Ilocos Sur District Hospital (ISDH) in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur but died while being treated for multiple bodily injuries.

The truck driver immediately surrendered to the police.

A possible settlement is expected between the truck driver and the family of the victim.
