Fever, Headache, Weakness, Loss of appetite, Diarrhea, Difficulty in bowel movement, and stomach pain.
These are just some of the symptoms of typhoid fever.
Amid the large-scale celebrations in Baguio City, the Department of Health Cordillera has once again issued a warning due to the increasing number of cases.
From January to February, the agency has already recorded 233 cases.
Although this is 29% lower compared to the same period last year, authorities warn against complacency.
The disease is caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria, which is commonly contracted from contaminated food or water.
It can also result from poor or unsanitary food and beverage preparation and can be transmitted by infected individuals.
For this reason, Nanay Marilou is taking extra precautions to protect her 5-year-old ward.
The Department of Health Cordillera advises proper handwashing and ensuring food cleanliness.
If symptoms appear, seek medical consultation immediately and do not ignore them.
