A 10-wheeler truck lost its brakes and crashed into four vehicles along Marcos Highway in Sitio Caucalan, Barangay Taloy Sur, causing heavy traffic on Saturday night.
According to the Tuba Municipal Police Station, the truck was heading to Baguio City to deliver construction materials when it stalled while going uphill.
The vehicle then rolled backward, hitting two SUVs behind it before slamming into a parked van and an AUV.
Chief Operations Officer PCpt. Aida Esteban said the truck’s heavy load may have contributed to the incident. “The brakes failed because of the truck’s weight,” she explained.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash. Authorities responded quickly to the scene, and the road was eventually cleared.
The owners of the damaged vehicles have yet to file complaints against the truck driver, with initial discussions leaning toward a possible settlement.
Police reminded motorists to observe defensive driving and conduct regular vehicle maintenance to avoid similar accidents, especially in accident-prone areas like Marcos Highway.
Investigators are still assessing the extent of damages caused by the incident as discussions between the truck owner and the victims continue.
