Even though the effects of Typhoon Kristine have not yet been felt in Baguio City, the workers in Barangay Lower Rock Quarry are not letting their guard down.
They are already on standby for another rush of water and debris into their siltation dam.
Before the rains brought by Typhoon Kristine are felt here in Baguio City, the cleanup has already begun in this area, one of the most closely monitored places during heavy rains or typhoons.
If left unattended, the trash might block the siltation dam and cause widespread flooding.
Early this morning, light to moderate rain fell.
As a result, two truckloads of trash and four truckloads of accumulated sand, rocks, and soil were collected.
The city government has also urged residents not to throw trash at the collection sites to prevent it from being washed away by floods.
In addition to this, several other areas in the city are also being monitored.
Meanwhile, potential landslides in parts of Kennon Road are also being closely watched.
Although preparations are in full swing to open the Bailey Bridge, an alternative route for vehicles, it remains closed to traffic due to the risk of landslides.
Motorists are advised to take other alternative routes when traveling to and from Baguio City and Tuba, Benguet.
