With the completion of the urban sketching workshop facilitated by Ged Alangui last March 11, the more than month long Baguio Educational Art Festival at the Baguio City National High School drew to a close as organizers look into the closing cum competition on March 25.
Alangui’s long delayed workshop was the conclusion of the day long event which had the mosaic art workshop by the Mighty Bhutens that morning.
“I can see more members for the urban sketching group,” said Alangui, who in September 30 last year held an on location sketching at the Baguio Convention Center with Aurelio Castro III.
Alangui hopes to put up a group here where regular workshops and exhibits will be held.
The workshop was just a prelude to the Sin Agi and Baguio Educators Artist Guild exhibit Panag Rikna at Le Fern Hotel.
The Marj Laranang Olivete curated event that will be the first at the hotel.
Earlier that day Laranang Olivete joined husband Oliver, Guillier Lagac and Davao based Kabunyan de Guia, who came home for his older brother’s, Kidlat, commemoration.
It was also the launching of de Guia’s other brother, Kawayan, also the other Thursday.
De Guia said that he will take advantage of his presence here visiting friends and the Saturday workshop was a commitment he and the other Bhutens have to teach and encourage youngsters be involved in arts.
It was de Guia who actually led the workshop which turned into a singing while you work event for the 50 plus participants mostly members of the BCNHS Special Program in the Arts students.
The workshops started on February 5 with acrylic on canvas and watercolor workshops done by councilor artist Leandro Yangot, BEAG’s Ben Ebanio and Alangui, which was a prelude to the urban sketching workshop.
Workshops done included theater by Roger Federico, dance by TJ Soriano, film making by father and son Clint and Macush Taynan, fiction writing by Luchie Maranan, essay writing by LA Piluden and voice by Glenn Gaerlan.
The art fest will conclude with the competitions on essay writing, painting and a Got Talent style contest where contestants can either dance, sing or act play.
The BEAF is backed by the Baguio Centermall and the Puckett Greenwater Foundation and the Sin Agi and BEAG as organizers. Pigeon Lobien
