LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The second round of community pantry for boxers, trainers and matchmakers is slated on July 10.
Highland Boxing Promotions top man Brico Santig said the first stop will be at the Elorde’ Sports Complex in Sta. Rita, Paranaque on July 10 to benefit Manila based boxers affected adversely with the Covid-19 pandemic with fights stopped.
Thai philanthropist Naris Singwangcha leads donors to the 1-6PM distribution after giving a total of P41,266.99 in donations to the pantry where each boxer, matchmaker and trainer will get 10 kilos of rice and grocery items.
The second round of community pantry for said athletes initiated by Dante Almario and Santig will later make a stop in Mindanao, the Visayas and the Cordilleras which will be held at the Highland gym in Kilometer 6 here.
Donors for the July 10 effort include Santig, Almario Dave Catamora, Santig’s partner and DMAD Promotions Darwin Miller Dep-ay, Jose Mortell, Bebot Elorde and Quibors Gym.
Santig, who is stuck in Dubai due to the lockdown in the United Arab Emirates to stop spread of the pandemic, was also able to get support from former boxers and muay Thai fighters now as instructors there who pledged to give one cavan of rice each every month starting July.
These include former champion Jun Paderna, Erwin Neri, Tony Jaro, Randy Navarro, Paul Watson, Ricky Sismundo, JR Mendoza and Buyagan resident Venice Dangley.
Meanwhile, Santig is expected to come home on June 30 when the lockdown is lifted and hope that he could take part in the first stage of the community pantry.
