Ronnie, a 48-year-old elementary school teacher in Baguio, has been teaching for 23 years.
Due to the expenses of purchasing teaching materials, there are times when his family’s budget becomes tight.
He hopes to receive a higher salary.
His wish is granted with the second tranche of the salary increase for government employees, which has already been signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Under National Budget Circular No. 597, the salary increase for government employees is being implemented for the second time.
Salaries will increase by 4 to 5% for government workers.
The circular follows the updated salary schedule for civilian personnel under Executive Order (EO) No. 64, S. 2024, signed by President Marcos Jr. in August 2024.
This is the second tranche of the government employees’ salary increase, with a third tranche coming in 2026 and a final tranche in 2027.
