Thirteen days before Christmas, the family of Lester has already started their journey back to Pangasinan today.
Traveling with a child, they prefer to avoid the hassle of crowded buses.
“I really don’t want to stand. You still pay, but you’re standing. That’s a no for me,” said Lester Delos Santos, a passenger.
Meanwhile, Frenchie, who’s bound for Bacoor, Cavite, opted for a sleeper bus for a more comfortable journey.
“It’s more comfortable. You can lie down and get some sleep,” said Frenchie Francisco, a passenger.
According to this bus terminal in Baguio City, the number of passengers remains normal weeks before Christmas.
However, this figure could double or even triple as Christmas Day approaches.
Ariel Gabaig, a Terminal Master at Victory Liner, mentioned, “This happens every year. We’ve been ready for this since November, especially here in Baguio.”
Facilities are already being prepared.
Guards are stationed and alert.
Restrooms are maintained to be clean.
Passenger queues are being organized.
Buses are thoroughly inspected before trips to ensure completeness and compliance with Memorandum Circular No. 021-15 of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
“We ensure that every bus passes our inspection, and the same goes for our restrooms,” Gabaig added.
Currently, they are awaiting the special permit for additional bus trips to accommodate the expected influx of passengers.
Earlier, the LTFRB conducted inspections at some bus terminals in Baguio City, checking items such as fire extinguishers, GPS, and dashcams on buses.
The LTFRB also reminded operators that restroom use should be free of charge.
Travelers are advised to plan their trips early to avoid the holiday travel rush and ensure a stress-free journey.
