Families displaced by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon remain in evacuation centers in Aguilar, meanwhile, food and hygiene kits were distributed to the evacuees.
At the Aguilar Multipurpose and Evacuation Center, sixteen families or sixty two individuals from Barangay Bocboc West and San Jose are temporarily staying.
One of them in Benjamin’s family.
Since they live near the river, they are at constant risk of flooding.
“Yesterday, our house was already getting flooded…we’re trying to prevent it from being completely submerged,” says Benjamin Sadsagat, one of the evacuees.
(Kahapon kami, nandyan na nga yung bahay niyo…pinapasukan na yung bahay niyo…hindi pa muntik, hinahanap baka mapasukan.)
Fifteen families of fifty five individuals are also temporarily staying at Tampac Elementary School in the town.
The residents are from Barangay Matagnib and Barangay Bocboc.
Aside from the damage caused by the flooding, their children’s education is also a concern as the school year begins.
Some students couldn’t purchase school supplies due to the recent typhoon.
To help them cope, the provincial government, along with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and the Provincial Health Office, distributed hygiene kits, rice, water containers, canned goods, vitamins, and medicines.
The PSWDO also provided arrozcaldo to the evacuees.
The evacuees expressed their gratitude for the assistance they received.
