At around 11 in the morning last September 30, a mountain in Barangay Acupan, Itogon, Benguet, collapsed.
The police immediately alerted residents and miners to evacuate.
“As of now, our clearing operations are complete,โ said PMaj. Mac Kenley Mayomis, Chief of Police โ Itogon Municipal Police Station.
Some mines in the town also evacuated miners due to the threat of more landslides.
“The rains continued, but everyone cooperated. The situation was handled peacefully to avoid any untoward incidents,โ Mayomis added.
In the town of Kabayan, the Binado โ Adaoay Road remains closed due to a landslide.
At 6 in the morning last October 1, the Labey-Lacamen Road in Binaljan Hilltop also remained closed due to a landslide.
The Jose Mencio Provincial Road is also closed, particularly in the Awa, Cadian, Topdac, and Atok sections.
Some sections of the Benguet โ Nueva Vizcaya Road and parts of the Andres โ Acop Cosalan Road in Nueva Vizcaya province are passable but limited to one lane.
The Binado โ Adaoay section in Kabayan remains closed due to the landslide.
In the town of Bontoc, vehicles fell into a ravine and were crushed in the Alab section of the Baguio โ Bontoc Road.
This was caused by a landslide and rockfall.
According to the Mountain Province Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office, two houses, six vehicles, one tricycle, and two pigpens were damaged by the landslide.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities.
The Batayan section of the Tadian โ Nacawang Provincial Road is also closed to traffic.
The Mountain Province โ Ilocos Sur Road in Barangay Poblacion, Bauko, Mountain Province, is also closed to traffic.
