SIBLINGS, ARRESTED FOR SELLING P1-M WORTH OF MARIJUANA; P3.3-M WORTH OF MARIJUANA, DESTROYED IN BENGUET AND KALINGA

These two brothers were caught red-handed by PDEA operatives in Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

They were arrested after selling nine blocks of dried marijuana leaves in a buy-bust operation.

The 9-kilogram marijuana had an estimated value of 1,080,000 pesos.

The suspects were identified as Carlos Anilom, 43, and George Anilom, 55, both residents of Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Authorities also recovered a firearm and ammunition from them.

They are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and the election gun ban.

In a joint operation by the PDEA and the Police Regional Office Cordillera, authorities discovered nearly PHP 3.3 million worth of marijuana in the provinces of Kalinga and Benguet on February 5.

In Benguet, 8,900 marijuana plants were found in three plantations in Bakun and Kibungan, valued at PHP 1.7 million.

Meanwhile, two more plantations were discovered in Barangay Locong, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Here, 8,000 marijuana plants were seized, amounting to PHP 1.6 million.

Authorities continue their investigation to identify and arrest the cultivators.
