Singsons still dominate Ilocos Sur political arena

The Singsons, led by its grand old man- Luis “Chavit” Singson— still dominate Ilocos Sur political arena.

Singson, incumbent Narvacan town mayor and League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) National President, filed his COC for Vice-Governor Friday morning versus his son Ryan, the incumbent governor of Ilocos Sur, already on his third term now, who also filed early Friday.

The elder Singson’s daughter-in-law Patch Savellano-Singson, will be running for Governor against incumbent Ilocos Sur vice-governor Jeremias “Singson, “Chavit’s” younger brother.

Incumbent Congressman for Ilocos Sur 1st District Deogracias Victor Savellano, Patch’s father, is eyeing for his third term but will be rivaled by Chavit’s son Ronald, a former Congressman of that district.

While the elder Singson’s cousin- Probinsiyano Partylist Representative Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. filed his COC for Mayor of Vigan City- Ilocos Sur capital. Another Singson, Randy, filed for that city’s vice mayor.

In Narvacan town, a Chavit’s daughter will slug it out for his father’s former post in tandem with incumbent Board Member Pablito Sanidad Jr., son of that town’s incumbent vice mayor and known human rights lawyer Pablito Sr. They will however be challenged by a daughter of former town mayor and National Tobacco Administrator Edgar Zaragosa in tandem with staunch and long time Chavit critic, lawyer Estelita Cordero, a cousin of Zaragosa.
