It’s been 2 months since the target completion of a sidewalk construction project in Naguilian Road, Baguio City, yet up until now, the construction is still ongoing.
Because of the seemingly slow-paced completion, business owners around the area are now being greatly affected.
With this, Brgy. Lourdes Subdivision Extension’s Barangay Captain, Jeffrey Timmango now urges the contractor to speed up finishing the said project.
“Well, there are many factors talaga na nangyayari, pero kung titingnan naman sana natin ang mga part ng mga naaapektuhan na mga kabarangay natin. Bisita rin natin, tungkol sa project niyo”, he stated.
The sidewalk and drainage construction project of the City Engineering Officer started in early August this year with a budget of 7.9 million.
“Actually, last October, we issued jay (yung) first nga (na) notice tayo idjay ayan ti (doon sa) contractor. Intend to terminate, dijay (yung) first nga (na) letter tayo gamin kanyada (kasi sa kanila) and then they responded nga adda (na merong) catch up program da (sila). Then last November, sa dijay (doon) letter da nga idjay inikan tayo manen ti (doon sa binigyan na naman natin sila ng) second letter nga showcause order ti inbaga tayon (na ang sinabi natin).”, Engr. Richard Benjamin Lardizal, Division Head Planning, Programming and Construction of City Engineering Office-Baguio, said.
Because of the possible termination of the project contract with the contractor, residents, and business owners now worry about the possible longer waiting time for the construction to be finished.
The contractor is now given 7 days by the City Engineering Office to give his reason for the said delay.
