SOME GROUPS, EXPRESS DISAPPOINTMENT OVER THE DISCOVERY OF A MAKESHIFT RACE TRACK ALONG THE CAMP JOHN HAY TRAIL

BY: JOSE ROBERT INVENTOR

Several trees in Camp John Hay Trail, Baguio City, were scraped and marked with red and yellow ribbons.

These photos were shared by the Camp John Hay Management Corporation (CJHMC), which oversees the area.

But the issue didn’t end there.

The trail itself was turned into a makeshift race track, with makeshift obstacle courses featuring curves and deep pits.

Due to this discovery, JHMC has temporarily closed the trail, including the Yellow, Blue, Red, and Eco Trails, which are popular among joggers and tourists.

According to CJHMC’s initial investigation, the obstacle course affected the Red and Blue Trails.

CJHMC stated that they were unaware of these modifications and did not authorize them.

Some workers in the area expressed shock and disappointment.

Volunteer groups who frequently collect trash in the area were also disappointed.

CJHMC has declined interviews while they continue their assessment of the area.
