In just a few days, the Year of the Wooden Snake will begin.

Daryll, one of the celebrants, looks optimistically forward to the new year.

Aside from wearing lucky charms, he plans to double his efforts at work this year.

“It depends on my goals for the year; that’s what I’m focusing on,” said Daryll Bolidlis.

Like the snake shedding its skin, this change symbolizes a transformation in people’s habits.

In preparation for the Spring Festival in Baguio City, a performance was prepared by the youth of Baguio Bell Church and Baguio Patriotic High School.

There were dragon and lion dances, along with the traditional calligraphy dance, offering a glimpse of the colorful celebration to welcome the Year of the Wooden Snake.

The festival also emphasizes strengthening the historical friendship and unity between the Chinese and Filipino communities.

Peter Ng, Chairman, Spring Festival Executive Committee, expressed, “To promote better understanding between Chinese communities to strengthen our historical friendship and unity of Chinese and Filipino culture and tradition. We are renewing our commitment to peace and prosperity for all of us.”

The local government of Baguio City expressed gratitude to the Chinese-Filipino community for their contributions to the city, not only in providing jobs but also in maintaining good relationships with Filipinos.

As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, various cultural performances and traditional festivities are expected, including a Barangay Gift Sharing event on Friday, January 20.

Residents can also enjoy the Little Chinatown experience on Session Road on Sunday, January 26.

The grand parade will take place on January 30, starting from Upper Session Road to Melvin Jones Grandstand at 1 in the afternoon.
