Student dies, soldier hurt as SUV dives into Mountain Province ravine

A student died at the hospital where he together with a soldier were rushed after the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) they were riding towards Bontoc, Mt. Province’s capital dived into a 50-meter ravine along the Bontoc-Baguio Road in Sitio Dantay, Bontoc, early morning Wednesday.

The fatality was identified as Cadet First Class Darryl A. Maggay, ROTC Corps Commander at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College-Tadian Campus in Tadian while injured was Philippine Army Sgt. Cornelio P. Cudli, from
Maba-ay, Bauko, also in Mountain Province.

Bontoc police said, Cudli and Maggay were on board a white SUV from Baguio City and when they reached Sitio Dantay, Cudli lost control of the steering wheel and plunged into the ravine.

Residents responded immediately and rushed the victims to the Bontoc General Hospital in Bontoc, where Maggay was declared dead-on-arrival.
