Within just 26 hours, this man ended up behind bars after allegedly killing and burying the body of his girlfriend at Lingayen Baywalk in Pangasinan.
The victim has been identified as Evalend Salting, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) student at Pangasinan State University – Lingayen Campus.
It can be recalled that the victimโs body was found by a man at around six in the evening on September 24.
On September 23, the young woman was reported missing.
The suspect will face charges of rape with homicide.
According to Governor Ramon V. Guico III, Province of Pangasinan, โThis is an isolated case, letโs say this is a crime of passion. The young couple had a disagreement. I donโt know exactly what their argument was about, but all evidence points out that itโs a crime of passion.โ
According to the examination of the body, the cause of death was a traumatic head injury.
โWe looked into the identity of the victim and her activities, and from the interviews we conducted, it was revealed that the victim would usually go out either with her boyfriend or her boardmates after class hours. We carried out the arrest of the suspect after he was positively identified by one of the witnesses,โ said PLtCol Amor Mio Somine, Chief of Police – Lingayen Municipal Police Station.
Governor Ramon V. Guico III praised the swift response of the police in handling the case.
โI commend the investigation and the work done by our police, especially here in Lingayen. So, at least I can say that this case is solved,โ Governor Guico stated.
He also ordered additional security at the said baywalk, especially as more and more visitors are coming to the area.
