Two individuals were injured following a collision between an SUV and a taxi in Barangay South Drive, Baguio City, around 11 AM on May 13.
According to a video from motorists, the front ends of both vehicles were heavily damaged.
Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Public Information Officer PMaj. Marcy Grace Marron stated that the taxi driver lost control of the steering wheel due to a mechanical issue, causing it to crash into the oncoming SUV.
Two passengers from the SUV were brought to the nearest hospital.
PMaj. Marron confirmed they were discharged later that afternoon.
No one was injured from the taxi.
Authorities said the road where the crash occurred was not steep, and the primary cause was mechanical failure.
Both parties involved have reached a settlement, with the taxi driver covering the medical expenses of the SUV occupants.
In light of the rising number of road incidents, BCPO announced it will begin holding monthly meetings with transport groups and rider associations to emphasize safe driving, especially as the rainy season approaches.
The police are also studying accident-prone areas, time patterns, and contributing factors such as road and vehicle conditions.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Ag-agat, Sagubo, Kapangan, Benguet, two individuals were injured after their truck fell into a 10-meter-deep ravine on May 13.
Police said the victims were heading home from their farm when the driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, failed to apply the brakes while descending.
The passenger sustained an ear injury while the driver suffered multiple abrasions.
Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The passenger, who had a head injury, was later referred to another facility.
Both victims are currently recovering.
