TABUK CITY, Kalinga—The city’s 100th millionth baby is now seven years old and no less than the chief executive of this city came a calling to give him gifts and a cake to celebrate.
Benny Senica II received today various gifts from the city government through the City Population Development Office and the mayor during his birthday last July 27.
Senica II was born on July 27, 2014 at 4:54AM at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital and was identified by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) as one of the babies born past midnight across the country, who were among the 100 millionth babies.
The incoming Grade 2 pupil received a birthday cake, school supplies, vitamin supplements, clothes and a sack of rice for his seventh birthday.
City Population Development Officer Jonalyn Kiser said Senica started to be assisted by the Commission on Population-CAR since he was still three months old, and continues to be supported by the city government for his overall well-being.
She emphasized during the awarding and commemoration activity “that every baby should be born wanted, rights secured, and health and education ensured.”
The boy’s parents, Evelyn and Benny, expressed gratitude for the support extended by the city government and the POPCOM to their sixth child.
City Mayor Darwin Estranero actually visited the boy and presented the gifts and the cake where he also gave his blessing to the boy for his success in life.
The “day of the 100 millionth baby” serves as the “barometer of the government and other organizations’ provision of resources in overall health, education, and empowerment” of all Filipinos, the PopCom said.
