Teen Rider, Injured in Baguio Road Crash

by: Vanessa Bugtong

A teenage motorcycle rider was injured after colliding with an SUV along Loakan Road in Barangay Scout Barrio, Baguio City, on the night of November 11.

According to police, the rider was heading toward the city’s central business district around 7:30 p.m. when the accident occurred.

The front of the van was heavily damaged after being struck by the motorcycle.

Police Major Carlos Puguan Jr., Station Commander of Baguio City Police Station 4, said the teen likely lost control due to slippery road conditions. “He wasn’t driving fast, but he crossed into the opposite lane, probably because of the wet road,” Puguan explained.

The rider sustained multiple injuries and was given first aid before being brought to a nearby hospital.

Both drivers agreed to settle the incident privately.

Authorities reminded motorists to be extra cautious during rainy weather.

“Always follow traffic laws and wear protective gear to prevent accidents like this,” Puguan added.

Meanwhile, rescuers saved a motorcycle rider who fell into a 15-meter-deep ravine along Kennon Road in Camp 5, Tuba, Benguet, also on the evening of November 11.

Authorities from the Bureau of Fire Protection – Cordillera and local rescuers rushed to the scene and pulled the rider to safety.

He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police have yet to release details on the cause of the accident but reminded motorists to exercise caution, especially when driving at night and during slippery conditions.
