The target opening date for this temporary road in Camp 2, Barangay Twin Peaks, Tuba, Benguet is November 1, All Saints’ Day.
It can be recalled that a part of the road collapsed during Typhoon Julian.
For everyone’s safety, it was temporarily closed to motorists.
This has been a hardship for the residents.
“It’s really hard because when we need to transfer our products down to Rosario, it’s even tougher if it’s raining or if the road gets damaged,” said Bryan Bugtong, a resident.
The income of tricycle drivers has also decreased.
“Our passengers have a hard time because they come from Camp 3 in Baguio, have a stopover when the road gets damaged, and then reach our terminal. So we just wait here to pick up passengers,” Allan Bayninan, a tricycle driver mentioned.
The road also gets muddy when residents have to walk through it.
“They say that once this is completed, it can be used by November 1. After that, they’ll close it again because of the widening works,” Bayninan added.
This is the current situation here in Sitio Camp 2, Barangay Twin Peaks, where an alternative route is being set up for residents, including light vehicles.
Thus, they are requesting that the alternative road be completed.
“Residents along Kennon Road in Twin Peaks hope that this will be completed so it becomes passable for everyone, preventing passengers from having to suffer,” said Bayninan.
“I hope it gets finished soon, but I don’t know why it’s taking so long. They said it should’ve been completed by now, but it seems like they’re doing double the work,” Bugtong added.
The Barangay Twin Peaks personnel continue monitoring the road construction, especially during rainy weather.
Their main priority remains ensuring everyone’s safety, especially during this year’s All Saints’ Day.
