On the night of Tuesday, September 24, the body of 20-year-old third-year college student Evalend Salting was found buried along the shores of Lingayen.

The police immediately began their investigation, focusing on the 21-year-old boyfriend of the victim, who was last seen with her.

As the investigation progressed, seven witnesses came forward. One of them was a vendor from whom the victim bought bottled water before the crime took place.

Based on the evidence gathered by the police, they were able to piece together what happened to the victim.

“This is an isolated case. We can say it is a crime of passion. There was a quarrel between these two young individuals in a relationship, it’s a crime of passion,” says Governor Ramon V. Guico III, Province of Pangasinan.

The governor assured support for the victim’s family.

While the case is considered solved, the PNP has not ruled out the possibility that the suspect had an accomplice, who may also face murder charges.
