Three robbers, carnappers killed in early dawn encounter in Benguet

Two alleged robbery carnapping suspects were immediately killed while another cohort died in the hospital after a gunfight with policemen 12:35 AM Friday along the Lamut-Shilan Road, in Barangay Shilan here.

The three, whose identities are yet to be ascertained by authorities, on board a red sedan were reportedly seen suspiciously along a gasoline station at barangay Tomay here.

The three immediately opened fire at policemen responding to the tip of the trio’s suspicious movements in the area and sped northbound towards barangay Tomay.

Road blocks were set-up along the trio’s possible escape routes including the Lamut-Shilan Road.

The trio’s vehicle, whose plate number was verified at the LTO as illegally transfered from another vehicle, crashed along the road side prompting authorities to corner them.

Despite being cornerednand warnings by operatives to surrender, the suspects scampered into different directions and fired ensuing a brief gunbattle.

Two of the suspects were killed on the spot while the third was said to be found still breathing and was rushed to the hospital but did not make it.

None of the policemen were hurt.

The Cordillera police said, aside from the La Trinidad police, Benguet pronvincial police operatives, and regional police intelligence operatives, members of the Pampanga 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) joined in the operations against the three.

Thus, concluding theories that the three were tailed all the way from Pampanga.

Several months ago, five robbery-carnapping gangmen, all coming from Pampanga, were also killed in a firefight with policemen along Marcos Highway in Tuba, Benguet.
