This 30-year-old man was arrested by a combined force of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and the Jones Municipal Office in a house in Jones yesterday, October 15.
He is the one accused of raping a minor girl in Baguio City last May.
“Whenever they had a conversation, this man requested the victim to send nude photos of herself,” said PMaj. Wiltz Konrad Sally, Station Commander of BCPO Station 7.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), the victim and the suspect met on social media, where the victim became infatuated with the suspect.
In addition to the rape, the suspect also threatened to spread the victim’s nude photos, prompting her to report him to the police.
After five months of hiding, the suspect, who was also identified as a top 3 most wanted individual in Baguio City and the entire Cordillera, was captured.
“The victim was scared, so she felt compelled to agree to have intercourse with the suspect, not knowing he was also recording it on video,” Sally added.
The suspect is facing charges of violating Republic Act Number 11930 or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials, as well as statutory rape.
The arrest of the suspect is hoped to serve as a lesson to others.
“We are in a modern world now. If they think they won’t get caught, they will be caught and arrested,” Sally stated.
Attempts were made to get a statement from the suspect, but he was not yet allowed to be interviewed by the BJMP male dormitory.
This is the second case of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children in Baguio City this 2024.
