Although Typhoon Leon has moved away from the country, intermittent rain and thick fog continue to be felt in Baguio City.
With many returning to their provinces and visitors heading to Baguio City this Undas, the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) is preparing once again.
In addition to the cemeteries, they are also monitoring traffic flow.
According to PCol. Ruel Tagel, City Director at BCPO, “We have already made plans not only among the BCPO personnel but also with concerned groups like volunteer groups and of course our local government units.”
They will focus on the roads leading to and from the city.
Earlier at Marcos Highway, the traffic flow into the city was already heavy, accompanied by thick fog.
On Naguilian Road, the traffic flow was light to moderate.
“Right now it’s a bit light to moderate because of the weather; yesterday, they did not declare a suspension of work, so today we will probably see a lot of people, along with those returning home to Baguio,” Tagel added.
A total of 526 police officers have been deployed by the BCPO to the cemeteries, bus terminals, and roads.
However, these numbers may change depending on the situation.
“Our total strength, the number of BCPO personnel, is 1,351, so the rest are the ones performing regular police duties,” he clarified.
At the Baguio City Public Cemetery, there are still few visitors due to the rainy weather.
Kennon Road remains closed for motorists due to the ongoing construction of an alternative route, while Naguilian Road, Asin-San Pascual-Nangalisan Road, and Marcos Highway remain open for motorists.
