BY: VANESSA BUGTONG

Twelve newly elected councilors were proclaimed in Baguio City early Monday, May 13, following the announcement of winning mayoral and congressional candidates.

Edison Bilog topped the list with 58,218 votes.

A former councilor and vice mayor, he expressed surprise at the results.

“I was surprised by the outcome because I’ve been out of public service for six years. I’m thankful for the support,” said Bilog. “Hopefully, the way we work together stays the same. There are only three new ones among us, so most of us have already worked together before.”

Joel Alangsab followed with 57,174 votes, while incumbent Councilor Jose Molintas came in third with 56,196 votes.

Incumbents Leandro Yangot Jr. and Vladimir Cayabas rounded out the top five with 55,972 and 53,461 votes, respectively.

Also included in the list are incumbent councilors Peter Fianza, Fred Bagbagen, and Atty. Betty Lourdes Tabanda; Lower Quirino Hill Barangay Captain Van Dicang; newcomers Atty. Paolo Salvosa and Yuri Weygan; and incumbent Atty. Elmer Datuin.

Their three-year term officially begins on June 30.
