Two caught in foiled over P724K cannabis smuggling try in Kalinga

Two alleged marijuana traders were caught in a foiled smuggling try in Kalinga province on Wednesday, a belated police report claimed.

The duo— Michael John Rentoria Pascual, 21, and Kane Brandley Torres Salang-oy, 21, aboard a red Toyota Vios, tried to sneak out P724,800.00 worth of marijuana across a police checkpoint conducted in barangay Dinakan, Lubuagan, Kalinga.

Cordillera police director Brig.Gen. Ronald Lee said policemen, who were tipped by villagers of the drug transport, conducted a checkpoint operation and intercepted the cannabis haul — five pieces of dried marijuana in tubular forms weighing 3.26 kilos with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Ph391,200.00 and three pieces of dried marijuana bricks weighing 2.78 kilos with SDP of P333,600.00 loaded inside the vehicle. The drugs were valued at P724,800.00.

The duo are now facing violations of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
