In a joint operation by the Philippine National Police – Provincial Drug Enforcement Group – Special Operations Unit Cordillera and PDEA Cordillera, nearly 10 grams of shabu worth approximately 50,000 pesos were seized.
This was during a search warrant operation at the home of Sonny Benos Lumpisa, 43, in Brgy. Otucan, Bauko, Mt. Province.
In addition to the drugs, authorities also confiscated drug paraphernalia, firearms, and ammunition.
Earlier, authorities raided the home of a 36-year-old mechanic in Barangay Guinzadan Sur.
Here, they seized 22.5 grams of shabu valued at 112,000 pesos, along with other drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects may face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition).
Meanwhile, in Benguet, authorities discovered a marijuana plantation in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, on December 8.
A total of 525 plants and 18 kilos of dried marijuana leaves worth 2.8 million pesos were destroyed.
In Kalinga, another marijuana plantation was found in Tinglayan.
Here, nearly 3,000 fully grown marijuana plants valued at 600,000 pesos were uprooted and burned.
No cultivators were apprehended in the separate operations.
Authorities are now conducting investigations to identify those behind the plantations.
