For three consecutive days, residents of Baguio City were alarmed by fire truck sirens.

Today, a cafeteria in Barangay Lower Magsaysay caught fire.

According to witnesses, around 6:00 in the morning, they noticed thick black smoke coming from the cafeteria.

Kimberly Pateño, a witness, narrated, “My companion started shouting, so I went outside. I was preparing goods for the canteen.”

Since the cafeteria was made of light materials, the fire spread quickly.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and declared the fire out by 7:40 in the morning.

Two workers from the cafeteria sustained injuries.

However, around 10:30 in the morning, the fire reignited.

A group of students from a nearby school stepped in to help put out the flames.

“We’re nervous because the fire could ignite again,” said Marvin Marrero, a student.

FO3 Benjie Cuyan, Fire Arson Investigator at Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Baguio mentioned, “The fire rekindled at a nearby structure, so we’re investigating it further.”

According to the initial BFP assessment, the fire caused an estimated 200,000 pesos worth of damage.

The BFP will continue investigating the fire’s origin.

This marks the 82nd fire incident in the city this year.
