Two men were shot dead in Tabuk City, Kalinga after two unidentified attackers barged into a house in Barangay Bulanao and opened fire early Saturday morning, November 15.

Police said the shooting may have stemmed from an alleged dispute over illegal drugs.

According to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, the victims, one from Pinukpuk and the other from Tabuk City, were drinking together when two suspects approached them on a motorcycle.

PCapt. Ruff Manganip, public information officer of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office, said, “They were drinking when a Honda XRM arrived. The suspects pointed a gun at them, took their three cellphones and around 4,000 pesos. When the victims could no longer give anything, the suspects shot them.”

One victim was hit in the head while the other was shot in the chest.

The attackers immediately fled on their motorcycle.

Manganip said the suspects were “two unidentified men wearing bonnets and caps.”

Police launched a hot pursuit operation but failed to catch the assailants.

Authorities said they already have persons of interest in the case.

Manganip added, “It looks like this was a drug-related dispute. The victims supposedly failed to give what was demanded. One of them had a previous case for carnapping, and both were identified as drug users.”

Despite the incident, police assured the public that the shooting was an isolated case and that Tabuk City remains generally peaceful.
