Two communist rebels were killed in fresh clashes with government troopers Saturday morning in a remote village in Besao, Mt. Province.
The two, whose names have not been available yet, according to the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division, are members of the Komiteng Larangang Gerilya- Abra, Mountain Province, Ilocos Sur (KLG-AMPIS) operating in these tri-boundaries.
Soldiers from the 69th Infantry Batallion said they chanced upon a group of rebels at sitio Masameyeo, Barangay Gueday, Besao, ensuing into a 10-minute gunfight sending the rebels fleeing.
At least two R4 rifles were recovered during a 10-minute firefight.
Two days ago, the military said they fought the same group of rebels in Barangay Mainit, Bontoc, Mountain Province’s capital, wherein two rebels were also reportedly killed. Various firearms were also seized from the rebels.
