LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Another campaign and another batch of successful dancers.
The team over the weekend took two silver and two bronze medals including several runner-up finishes in the 13th Cebu Open Online Dancesport Competition over the weekend at the Quad Fitness Center.
Mark Gonzalo Benter and Zenobia Faith Olayan led the Valley dancers as they scored silver medal finishes in their respective categories.
Benter came up second in the Grade C Latin (3 Dance) / Rising Star where 12 competitors saw action. However, he failed to reach the podium in the Grade B Latin (4 Dance) / Pre-Amateur where he wound up fifth among 22 dancers.
Olayan, meanwhile, took second place in the Junior Cha Cha (1 Dance) for the junior Latin category, where 12 saw action.
Mico Dumalos, one of the more successful Benguet athlete would up third in and behind Benter in the Grade C Latin (3 Dance), then wound up 15th in the Pre-Amateur category.
Dumalos was unable to compete in all dances and missed one dance due to bad weather that interrupted internet connection, said coach Charibelle Pingawan. However, Dumalos still managed to finish third in Grade C Latin.
Newbie Ian Harvey Cariaso placed 9th and 19th places in the same categories.
Eijie Justine Balao added the second bronze medal in the Junior Rhumba (1 Dance) among 12 competitors.
She had a fifth place finish in Junior Cha Cha (1 Dance), seventh in Junior C Latin (3 Dance) and eighth in Junior Jive (1 Dance). All had 12 competitors.
Olayan, on the other hand, narrowly missed podium in the Junior Rhumba (1 Dance when she finished fourth, then eighth in Junior Jive (1 Dance) and 9th in Junior C Latin (3 Dance).
Ashley Abance, on the other hand, missed a medal with a fourth place finish in Junior C Latin (3 Dance), then seventh in Junior Cha Cha (1 Dance) and 12th in Junior Jive (1 Dance).
Due to technical error, he missed the Junior Rhumba (1 Dance).
Xyraine Gail Bayanes made a good showing in her debut competition as she placed 9th among 12 dancers in all the four events she joined – Junior C Latin (3 Dance); Junior Cha Cha (1 Dance); Junior Rhumba (1 Dance) and Junior Jive (1 Dance).
The team will host an online competition, the Benguet Dancesport Online Competition on Oct. 23 and 24 at the Quads Fitness Center.
