Before the end of September, another storm has caught up and is now poised to bring rain to Northern Luzon, this is Typhoon Julian.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), it is expected to strengthen while still over the Philippine Sea.ย ย
Its cloud cover has already reached several parts of Luzon, but in Baguio City, the sun briefly peeked through before the skies turned overcast for the afternoon.ย ย
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Cordillera has raised the Blue Alert status as a precaution and has conducted a pre-disaster risk assessment.ย ย
Other towns in Cagayan are also preparing for the possible impact of the storm.ย ย
However, unlike previous storms, it is not expected to pull in the southwest monsoon or habagat.ย ย
By Wednesday next week, Bagyong Julian is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
According to PAGASA, the consecutive storms in the Pacific Ocean are one of the direct effects of La Niรฑa in the country.ย ย
This is also one of the reasons why six storms have entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility, compared to the three storms PAGASA initially predicted for September.
Currently, the country is only experiencing a weak La Niรฑa, but its effects are expected to be felt more significantly from October to November.ย ย
