The damage to agriculture from the recent Typhoon Kristine in the province of Benguet has exceeded 200,000 pesos.
Infrastructure damage reached over 8.5 million pesos.
Because of this, the province was placed under a state of calamity on October 24.
According to Governor Melchor Diclas, Province of Benguet, “The areas most affected are in the northern part of Benguet, like Buguias, Mankayan, where the rain was extremely heavy. We had one mortality in Buguias, Bayoyo, a young person, only 24 years old.”
Benguet is just one of the areas in the country placed under a state of calamity due to the typhoon’s impact.
According to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 142,000 families were affected across the country.
According to National Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) records, 150 fatalities were reported nationwide.
Most of the fatalities were caused by landslides.
The typhoon caused over 800 million pesos in infrastructure damage across the country.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered immediate and continuous assistance for the recovery of all those affected by the recent typhoon.
