Around 8:00 AM yesterday, November 11, Typhoon Nika made landfall in the town of Dilasag, Aurora.
The town was relentlessly battered by wind and rain.
Trees were blown by the wind.
The Ditubo River was impassable due to rising water levels.
The typhoon’s fury was also felt in the neighboring town of Casiguran.
“At 4 o’clock this morning, we lost power in Casiguran, and the signal is also fluctuating. Globe has no signal at all, and Smart keeps cutting out,” said Vince Miras, LDRRM Assistant at Caiguran MDRRMO.
The LGU has already ramped up relief operations for affected residents.
This comes after 1,100 families, or more than 2,000 individuals, evacuated from the town.
Several trees also fell in the town of Dipaculao.
More than 1,800 families, or over 5,000 individuals, have been evacuated in Aurora province.
Governor Reynante Tolentino has also ordered the delivery of assistance to affected towns.
Visibility was almost zero in the town of Dinapigue, Isabela, located next to Dilasag, Aurora, at the time of the typhoon’s landfall.
The sea became rough as well.
Several trees almost fell.
Police braved the bad weather to remove fallen trees from the roads.
The Abuang River Bridge in the city of Ilagan was close to being submerged.
Authorities are also monitoring the water level at Malalam Bridge.
The Guacab and Annafunan Overflow Bridges in Echague have been completely submerged by water.
Water levels in the NIA irrigation system in San Pablo have also risen.
According to the Isabela PDRRMO, more than 1,700 families or over 5,200 individuals have been evacuated in the entire province.
