Water levels at seas in Pangasinan, continue to be monitored

Signal Number 2 is still raised in the province of Pangasinan.

With continuous rains, the PDRRMO has been conducting nonstop search and rescue operations and clearing activities.

According to Vincent Chiu, Operations Chief of Pangasinan PDRRMO, “Although PAGASA has issued a warning that there is still a chance of a storm surge, in our recent monitoring, it already impacted the coastal areas here, although the water levels have lowered. Our office is still actively monitoring.”

They are also keeping an eye on the rising water levels along various coastlines.

Likewise, flash flood-prone and low-lying areas such as Mangatarem, Aguilar, Labrador, Bani, Burgos, and Mabini are also being monitored.

“There is actually a slight increase in the Agno River’s water level, but the towns connected to it have not reported any direct effects, as reflected in their situational reports on the river system,” Chiu added.

The Pangasinan PDRRMO is currently coordinating with the Coast Guard, Maritime, and PNP to monitor the MV Xavier tanker that ran aground in Binmaley yesterday due to a potential oil spill.

Meanwhile, around two thousand residents in the province are now in evacuation centers.

They were personally visited yesterday by Pangasinan Governor Ramon ‘Monmon’ V. Guico III.

“Our governor has instructed us to assess the needs of the evacuees. Regarding food supplies and the health sector, our social welfare team is with us, and the governor visited various evacuation centers to address their needs. He also emphasized the need to continue our clearing operations and search and rescue efforts in affected towns,” Chiu stated.

Vincent Chiu, Operations Chief of Pangasinan PDRRMO, confirmed that there is sufficient supply of food packs being distributed to residents.

The PDRRMO is also actively gathering information on damage reports in agriculture, particularly in fish farms across the province.

Currently, the yellow alert status remains raised in Pangasinan.
