WATER SUPPLY IN BAGUIO CITY THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, REMAINS SUFFICIENT, ACCORDING TO THE BAWADI

Water is vital for the operation of Nanay Edith’s eatery, from food preparation to washing dishes.

Because their line is connected to the Baguio Water District (BAWADI), they keep a close watch on their water tank refill schedule.

Despite the expected influx of visitors to the city this holiday season, they remain hopeful that the water supply will be sufficient, something the BAWADI has assured.

“We’ve planned to just buy mineral water for cooking and washing if necessary,” said Edith Sagampot, a vendor.

According to BAWADI General Manager Salvador Royeca, “Our sources have fully recovered. We’ve already ensured a sufficient supply, especially for locals.”

The series of typhoons from October to November significantly contributed to the adequate water supply.

As the dry season approaches in 2025, preparations are already in place.

“We are working to expand our coverage and supply the remaining unserved areas in Baguio,” Royeca stated.

In October, 65% of the Baguio Water District’s sources were replenished, storing up to 46,000 cubic meters of rainwater.
