Winner drives home brand-new car from EMA Cup raffle

By: Angelica Arquero

What began as a regular Saturday turned into a dream-come-true moment for Dennise Mae Denna when she won a brand-new white car at the 20th EMA Cup’s Grand Raffle Draw.

“I’m so happy, I can’t explain it,” Dennise shared, eyes sparkling with joy. “The car is beautiful, and I’ve always dreamed of owning a small one.”

Dennise plans to put her prize to good use. “It will really help me because I plan to use it as a service car to earn extra income,” she said. “Thank you so much. I really believe this blessing is meant for me, and I hope it becomes a blessing for others, too.”

The EMA Cup, a golf-for-a-cause tournament, was held at Pineswood Golf and Country Club in Benguet on June 7.

The event surpassed expectations with 87 players joining the tournament.

“We were only expecting around 40 golfers, but we ended up with nearly 90,” said Atty. Edgar Avila, founder of the EMA Cup. “This is our first time at Pineswood because Baguio Country Club, our usual venue, is under renovation until September. We’re just glad everything went well, and yes, we finally have a car raffle winner.”

Beyond the raffle’s grand prize, participants also received motorcycles, appliances, and travel packages.

The event’s success promises more charitable efforts in the future.

“We’re looking for beneficiaries not just in Baguio but also in nearby areas like Benguet,” Avila added. “We want to make sure the help we give reaches as many people as possible.”

Rotary Club Downtown Session (RCDS), which organized the event, expressed gratitude to its supporters.

“We are thankful to all the golfers, ticket buyers, and sponsors who made this possible,” said Ar. Ryan Gumaya, RCDS president.

Avila concluded, “Thank you to everyone. It’s our 20th year, a tough record to beat for many golf events. We hope to see you again next year.”
