A 23 year old woman died, while five others were injured when the passenger jeepney they were riding fell from a ravine and landed on its roof in a river in Sitio Mapait, Barangay Poblacion, Luba, Abra Friday morning.

Dey-ann del Rosario Biernes, 23, and a resident of Barangay Supo, Tubo, Abra, was declared dead on arrival at the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Luba.

Those who sustained wounds are Pixie-Ann del Rosario Biernes, 20, a resident of Barangay Supo, Tubo, Abra; Alberto Dogayan, 61, of Barangay Tiempo, Tubo; March Annaban Baltazar, 59 of Mayabo, Tubo; Joe Bonggayan Kanor, 48 of Mayabo, Tubo, Abra and the driver Oliver Apangwen Wilan, 39 of Tubo, Abra.

The five were treated on site and was brought to Luba RHU.

Police said that the jeep was traversing the Luba-Manabo Road in Barangay Poblacuon, Luba at around 6:50AM of Friday when it met another vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

The passenger jeep tried to give way for the other vehicle but the driver lost control of the jeep and fell off the ravine with the jeep landing on its roof on the stony area of the river.
