Women architects dominate Tabuk Welcome Arc design contest on eve of women’s day

Female architects dominated the Tabuk City Welcome Arc design competition in December last year whose winners were declared Monday, the day before the International Women’s Day.

Three of the five finalists including the finalist Franz Gumangan received their cash prizes and certificates Monday, the even of women’s day today, March 8.

Franz Gumangan Dimalanta’s entry topped the competition and received PhP10,000 for her efforts in the competition spearheaded by the City Tourism and Cultural Affairs (OCTCA).

Dimalanta’s entry will be used when the city government constructs welcome arcs at its boundaries.

The finalists included Althea Glate Baliwag Butay, Jynyr F. Casiano, Jhoana Marie C. Natividad and Rolando K. Mongao who all received PhP2,500 for their designs which they received from mayor Darwin Estrañero, OCTCA head Ethel B. Odiem and information officer III Rainier Sarol during the regular flag raising ceremony at the City Hall Monday morning.

Also awarded during Monday’s ceremonies were the video-making contests and who received cash prizes of PhP10,000 for the winner and PhP2,500 for the finalists.

Declared winner was Iloba Resort and Adventure Place, while the Tree Tops Eco-Adventure Resort, Pinagan Heritage Resort and Campsite and Eco-Village AgriFarm were finalists.
