The courage of Pangasinan’s World War II veterans was commemorated during the 80th Lingayen Gulf Landings and 18th Veterans Day, led by Governor Ramon V. Guico III and Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino.
The program started with a mass in honor of the veterans, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony.
Usec. Pablo Lorenzo, Department of National Defense (DND), expressed, “We honor our veterans through benefits that they deserve from a grateful nation, especially in the twilight years of their lives. Today’s commemoration is not only about reflecting on the past; it is also a reaffirmation of our commitment as a nation in forging a future for our veterans of war. We are reminded of their courage and tenacity when they faced overwhelming odds.”
Out of the 25 surviving veterans in Pangasinan, 10 were present at the event.

Let us continue to preserve this celebration as a vital part of our cultural tradition for future generations, as it forms an essential part of our identity as Pangasinenses and Filipinos,” said Governor Ramon V. Guico III.
Vice Governor Mark Ronald Lambino stated, “80 years ago, the shores of Lingayen witnessed not just the devastation of war but also the spark of liberation and hope.”
