Yangot starts artist residency at Podium

At least 25 young aspiring artists started their six month art residency at the Podium Botique Hotel Saturday.

A project of councilor artist Leandro Yangot, Jr., the Filipino Chinese Community of Baguio and Podium owner Melan Kuh Marquez, herself a Filipino-Chinese, the residency hopes to give artists “the opportunity to live outside of their usual environments, providing them with the time to reflect, research or produce work.”

Yangot said that resident artists “can explore new locations, different cultures, and experiment with different materials.”

He said that lectures will be done at tge art bank at the athletic bowl and other locations including art spaces like the Le Fern Hotel.

Lectures Saturday included Marquez’s  Neurographic Art: Turning Stress into Calm and visual art by Yangot and Jadon Quinonez.

Members of the Fil-Chinese community led by Peter Ng donated materials to the young artists.  Pigeon Lobien
