The body of a 20-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds near a rice field in Barangay San Francisco, Bugallon, Pangasinan, early morning of April 25.
Residents discovered the body around 6 AM.
Authorities said the victim sustained eight stab wounds to her chest.
Based on the initial investigation, the victim was likely killed elsewhere and her body dumped near an irrigation canal.
According to Bugallon Deputy Chief of Police PLT. Darius Cabotaje, the woman was last seen alive in a neighboring barangay on April 24.
Investigators believe she had been dead for several hours before she was found.
Police are now following leads, including CCTV footage, to identify the perpetrator.
Although they already have a person of interest, authorities are conducting a deeper investigation to determine the motive and confirm where the murder took place.
The victim, described by her family as single and without a boyfriend, may have been transported to the scene using either a three-wheeled vehicle or a motorcycle, based on blood trail analyses.
The family has yet to issue an official statement but continues to call for justice.
