Mediaman’s son among successful Bar passers

Veteran radio broadcaster Romeo Gonzales seemed like he hit the jackpot in the lottery Friday morning as he shouted with glee while at the second floor of the medicaments watering hole at Luisa’s Cafe.

It was not a multi-million windfall that the DZRH stringer actually got that day but his son, his fourth child, just passed the Bar exams l, the results of which was released Friday morning by the Supreme Court.

“They (the other patrons) thought I was going crazy,” said the now senior citizen who treated the media guys he was with with lunch.

“It’s just that I can’t contain my happiness,” sad Gonzales.

Gonzales was more than happy because it was the first take of his son, who took up law straight out of his BS Criminology course at the University of the Cordilleras.

“As long as he passed, it is enough for me,” he added as his son joined the 3,992 passers of the 9,183 who took it.

Five graduates of the University of the Philippines occupied the top five positions of the 10, while three others round up the top 20 in a show of force for the country’s regular top performing university.

Czar Matthew Gerard Dayday topped the bar with an 88.8083 passing rate.

Ericsson Mariano came in second and Christiane Claire Cresencia landed third with 88.7765 and 87.9667 passing rates, respectively.

The fourth and fifth places went to Andrea Jasmine Yu (87.7750 percent) and Kim Kia Gapata (87.4250).

Gabriel Gil Baes is the highest ranked non- Manila taker as the University of San Carlos alumnus finished with 87.25 rate.

Saint Louis University alumnus Eric Exomio had 86.4918 rate to finish number 18.

Meanwhile, former SunStar Baguio and Bombo Radyo broadcaster Faiza Mariano also hurdled the Bar in her third attempt. Pigeon Lobien
