BFP Fire Square Road Show Sparks Fire Safety Awareness Among Baguio City Residents

Last March 17th, the Baguio City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) organized a mini Fire Square Road Show at Malcolm Square, Baguio City, offering a sneak peek into the upcoming main event scheduled for April 4 at SM Baguio.

The Fire Square Road Show started around 2020 but was halted due to the pandemic, and resumed in 2022. This year’s event aims to continue the tradition of engaging with the community on fire safety practices.

Various activities were organized during the mini-event, including a snake and ladder game for kids, where they were required to perform safety tips. Additionally, CPR demonstrations, rappelling showcases, and displays of firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers were provided for the public. A photo booth was also set up to engage participants of all ages.

Regarding how the event engages with the community regarding fire safety, Furigay highlighted the interactive nature of the activities. “ineenggage natin para maaware ang community sa fire safety and magkaroon sila ng awareness sa fire prevention. This afctivity is fun and interactive way para maideliver natin sa community natin ang mga safety tips and then kung ano ba yung mga trabaho ng mga bumbero natin.” he stated during an inteview.

The BFP Fire Square Road Show serves as a platform to bridge the gap between the community and firefighting professionals, fostering a culture of safety and preparedness among Baguio City residents. As the main event approaches on April 4, anticipation grows for an even more impactful outreach effort to promote fire safety across the city. | Adrian Paul Andiso
