President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. aims to push forward an affordable housing loan for Pag-IBIG members by lowering interest rates as some still find it difficult to afford the 3% interest for the mortgage.

In this case, President Marcos urged a further reduction of interest rates to make it more affordable and accessible for Filipinos to own their homes.

“I urge the PAG-IBIG fund to make its mortgage financing even more accessible and to balance this with sustainability. This is to inspire Filipinos today, and the generations to come, to work hard, to reach their goal to the house that they can call their own… by any administration.”

Meanwhile, some members shared their sentiments about Pag-IBIG.

According to Mary Domiquias, she was able to utilize her hard-earned contributions to the Pag-IBIG Fund for her children’s education after retiring as a teacher at age 65.

New Pag-IBIG member Mary Rose also hopes that her contributions will be utilized properly and aims to use it for building her own house.

Last year, the Home Development Mutual Fund, or Pag-IBIG Fund, released 126.04 billion pesos in loans to finance over 96,000 housing units for its members.

This is an increase of 8.19 billion or 7% compared to the year 2022.

Overall, the President hopes that with more affordable rates, every Filipino will have a home

as a product of their own hard work and perseverance.
