CJH Hotels opens with four shot lead in Seniors Fil A, Luisita eyes upset on S’Woods

BAGUIO CITY (26 Nov) – Ramon Garcia scored 29 points as Camp John Hay Hotels opened with 106 points and a four shot lead in Seniors Fil A in the 72nd Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament Saturday at the CJH course.

Federico Mandapat, Jr. added a 27, while Shean Bedi and Ronald Samaniego came up with 25 each to count for the team which leads Hotel Bahia which had 27 from Dasen Chen, 26 from Roger Amata and a 25 and 24 from Raoul Jorge and Jose Antonio Olives, respectively.

Nine shot behind is Robros – JV Golf Team 1 which shot 93 points on the 30 of Teddy Quizon. Enrico del Rosario (24), Emiliano Mendoza (22) and Antonio Mercado (17) counted for the team which is just one on Moto.

Meanwhile, Luisita Golf and Country Club hopes to come up with a good opener in the bid to stop defending champion Manila Southwoods from taking the top podium this year in Fil Championship senior.

“Never give up, every point counts,” said team captain Benjie Sumulong as the Tarlac based squad hopes to give their all from day one at the back nine of the CJH course.

Tee time starts with the Eddie Bagtas-led squad which has come short from toppling the Carmona, Cavite based squad.

In Am B Seniors at the Baguio Country Club fairways, Crisostomo Garbo opened with 30 points to power MCG – Mimosa to a first round 88 and a seven shot lead on CJH Team 2.

Dominico Hermoso carded a 21, while Senen Quiambao and Danilo Abad chipped in 21 and 10, respectively to count for the team.

Robert Basco led CJH 2 with 25 points, while dentist Charles David Baguilat added 22, even as Rowlyndon Julian and Bonifacio de Castro came up with 19 and 15, respectively, to count in the five to play four to count format.

Hillsiders of Baguio, the all United States based residents of barangay Hillside formerly employees of the former Camp John Hay Air Base, is at third spot with 70 points on the 23 of Gilbert Madayag, the 17 of Manny Eslao and the pair of 15 from Carlos de Leon and George Madayag.

In Am C Seniors, BCC Team 2tallied 73 points and take a three point lead on Chemsol Flowtork.

Mar Bustos led the squad with 23, Edgar Dirige had 19, while Anthony Co and Rafael Ding added 16 and 15, respectively, to count.

Edwin Rodriguez led Chemsol with 20 points, while Guilbert Purcia, Franklin Verlarde and Daniel Gregorio added 18, 17 and 15, in that order, for the team.
