Jail guards here were able to foil an effort to smuggle drugs inside the Baguio City Jail Friday using food.

Personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology were conducting an inspection on the visitors at the mail dormitory of the city jail at around 2PM on said day when they noticed something uncommon about the adobo and bakareta viand brought in by an unidentified person for one of the persons deprived of liberty.

The jail guards noticed that the meat cuts of the pork for the adobo and beef on the bakareta (a form of beef stew) were bigger than usual.

Curious, the guards inspected the meat using forks and spoons which they used to shred and found that these were stuffed with sachets – 10 of which were filled with suspected shabu, while two contained shabu paraphernalia.

However, the jail guards failed to apprehend the person who brought it inside the jail since he fled when the inspection was being made.
